Their story starts all the way back at when they were 15 years old. Wanting to create a translation patch for one of his favorite niche region-exclusive games, Idia began a search through various online platforms looking for an assistant translator, image editor and proofreader. As much as it wounded him to do so, he knew it would only hurt his ego more if he made any mistakes. At least with a second person on the project, he'd have someone else to shift any blame to.An amateur translator going by the online alias B1SK1T (or Kit for short) had been translating the text of the game and posting them online as he lacked the technical skills to make a playable translation patch himself. Seeing this perfect opportunity, Idia wasted no time in contacting Kit and the two soon formed a partnership.
The patch would be completed and released - a total success. Idia was happy with what he had done...but he didn't want things to end here. After all, the game they translated has a sequel, and a second sequel was just announced! Swallowing his pride, Idia asked Kit if they would like to continue their partnership. To his surprise, Kit agreed - in fact, they said they wished to do the same. After all, their relationship had developed past a professional one and into a genuine friendship.The two of them would continue working together, though they started to spend less time on translation work and more time on just hanging out and playing games together. It was a comfortable arrangement - two otaku losers who had been shunned from the rest of the world and found solace in each other, all while having some 'work partnership' string to cling onto to justify it. Both being paranoid privacy-freaks, they never shared personal details with each other or even knew what the other sounded like - it was an anxious hikki's dream! Before Idia knew it, he was confident in calling Kit his best friend (besides Ortho, but Kit doesn't need to know about that part of his life...) and player two. Oh, and his crush, but no one needs to know that tidbit. That info's going with him to the grave.
Everything was fine and dandy, which can only mean one thing - that something was about to go wrong. Luckily it wasn't too bad - in fact, it was actually quite good! After years of being in homeschooling, Kit had gathered the courage and strength to give mainstream school another try. With it being their first time going to a physical high school, things were bound to change and they were going to become much busier. Though Idia did feel happy for his friend, a part of him wished they would've just stayed in homeschooling so they could spend more time together. It's an ugly side of Idia, one he thinks he would rather die than let it rear its head. It feels gross, fake, but he tries his best to be supportive of Kit's decision regardless.Well, things were going to get busy for Idia too. His third year of high school was starting, but what was really the kicker was the fact that Idia had somehow become the housewarden of Ignihyde. In fact, his first big day of housewarden duties was beyond hectic: the disaster that was the Entrance Ceremony... That cat monster causing mayhem, being surrounded by so many people, having to talk to and guide a bunch of noobs... Ugh. Not to mention he seemed to have piqued the interest of one of the new Ignihyde students. A little third-year who also just so happened to join the Board Game Club too... Worst of all, he's befriended Ortho, so it seems like peace this year was never an option. At least he's tolerable and not some annoying casual or pretentious normie. Not that it matters, really. Idia just wants to get this all over with so he can go back to his room and grind that new game with his player two...
